Creating a more supportive, inclusive and sustainable environment for the locals.
The idea behind Waiten was to create a more supportive, inclusive and sustainable environment for the locals, especially the seniors as the is packed with them. The focus has been to give them more amenities and activities to do, while also providing various facilities that can be useful for the locals generally. Sustainability is expressed through all the greenery included in the design, such as the rooftop gardens and trees placed around the space.
This project was the main activity of my 2-week summer exchange in Shanghai, where I took part in the “China Design” course. The project was a holistic take on the challenge of improving the selected location, where we went out to do fieldwork, interviews and design.
More details can be found in the poster presentation below, which sums up the whole process and outcomes.
